How to hack a photo Marathon

This was the Global Science Film Festival Happening in November 2019 in Zurich

How we got noticed was threw the meetup:

The competition is open to everybody, no matter if you are a scientist or not, a professional or an amateur photographer. You can participate together with friends, colleagues and family and have a nice and enjoyable time together. Only requirement is that you have a digital camera (smartphone camera also applies).

The marathon will be held at Zoological Museum, Zoo Zurich, UZH Science Campus Irchel (Zurich) and Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science &Technology (Eawag, Dübendorf). You may also travel from one location to another by public transportation.

Conditions:

   All kinds of digital cameras (including smartphones) are allowed.
   Accessories with the camera (filter, light…etc.) are allowed. 
   Start with blank memory card.
   Photo format: only JPEG are accepted. Maximum size is 100 MB and minimum resolution is 2000 x 3000 pixels (16.9 x 25.4 cm to 300 dpi).
   Digital touching: It is not permitted to post-process the images with an image editing program such as Photoshop. 
   You can move from one place to another walking, with a bicycle or using public transport only!

So we took the chance of telling us the Hiseq2000 also works as a camera.

How to hack a science photo marathon:

  • 1. Step: Register
  • 2. Step: take samples from the pond in front of the Zoological Museum and Zoo Zurich
  • 3. Step: Bring the samples to Gaudilabs www.gaudi.ch
  • 4. Step: make nice microcopy photography with the hiseq2000


RESULTS:

250 CHF rewarded and donated to Hackteria.org
