This is something that I have been waiting for since the holidays ever began. It has been my dream to be able to get in touch with science again, specially biology and chemistry. It’s surprising to see how this interest of mine has made me curious and enthusiastic about these subjects. I noticed that studying or learning a subject like science which was a burden once before has come to interest me so much that I don't find it a burden anymore, rather I seem to spend most of my time reading and researching or watching some documentary related to the topic. More over I have always wanted to bring art and science together and this program is helping me do exactly that. --Pranav 02:44, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Life without form

25th May 2011

Does something living always have to have a form ? Or does there also exist life without a definite physical form ? Life and form don't always go hand in hand for example, an Amoeba is a living organism which has no defined form. We were asked to come up with crazy ideas and come out with our own creation which fits in the category: Life without form Plasmoeba.jpg --Pranav 03:13, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Extracting your own DNA

What I did with my DNA

DnA.jpg

I believe that everything thats part of me is what gives me life. Thus even the loss of the smallest part of my body in a way kills me. I chose to smoke my DNA in order to send this message that even though the DNA is a microscopic part of my body it is equally as important as the rest of my body. Thus as I take a drag of the cigaret the DNA gets burnt and destroyed and at the same time the cigaret is harming me in its own way...

What is life according to you? Life is something that has a rhythm, a harmony; it’s something that cannot be measured for it’s filled with immeasurable qualities such as emotions and thoughts. It definitely plays an important role in the existence of the ecosystem no matter what form it is in.

Do you think you have the right to modify a living thing? I feel that everything that exists has a role to play in the working of the universe. The role it plays may be significant or insignificant but no doubt that it is vital. Thus when man starts to modify these living things, he is changing the role it was created for in the first place. Now the reason for doing so may be to make a particular living organism play a more significant role, but many times we do so for our own benefits and sometimes making other living things our slaves which we all know is not ethical. So in the end it all depends on the reason for modifying life that exists, is it for our own luxury and pleasures or is there a more superior cause?

What is design according to you? According to me design is the thought behind a simple but effective solution. It’s what we all do when we have a problem that we face, we design a solution keeping in mind the problems that the solution itself is going to trigger off. It becomes an ethical when these problems triggered off is less in magnitude when compared to the main problem.
