Ayan, a water expert, came to college and spent some time with us, explaining the different water problems faced by people in the Gangetic Plains, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, in relation to the ground water in these areas. The main, natural reason was the redox reaction, iron content in the water.

He even shared with us on the different detection ranges of the various kits available for testing arsenic, mainly- MERCK,and HACH.

He even spoke about the sensitivity of the various existing kits to arsenic content in water, and how each of these kits reacted differently to the presence of arsenic in water.

He suggested that we visit Kolar, and collect water samples, to test the water for arsenic content, and see how we can help the villagers acquire clean, arsenic-free drinking water.
