Kolar district in Karnataka is known for Arsenic contaminated water due to gold mining. We chose this site for field testing. We took a total of 12 samples most of which did not contain Arsenic. Here is a link to a bit more information. [1]

ADIMA[2], a theater group from Terahalli hosted us. The terrain was rocky - formed from lava rocks form millions of years ago. Temperatures were hot - 30C in the morning and lowered to about 20C in the evenings. We also visited Kolar Gold Fields(KGF)[3], where we had the opportunity to speak with the manager of the Kolar Municipal Corporation. Unfortunately, our field trip was too short for us to visit the abandoned mine shafts to take samples.
