For our first experiment, we used a webcam to develop a make-shift microscope. The group comprised of Chaitrali, Shahrukh and I. Although the image on screen caused some skepticism initially, we were all able to design a microscope with a stand and observe impurities in water. We used glass slabs and a torchlight to give the image some clarity. The results were amazing. One group even found some movement (micro-organism) in the specimen. This experiment was very innovative and it can be done by any one at home. Noticing the results helped the class understand the concept of labour.

Looking forward to the rest of the project. Not every person is a scientist or has a science background, but keen eyes from artists and designers might lead to new discoveries.

Day 1 : Microscopy
