DIY : microscope

The first day started with us making our own microscopes. Maithili, Reuben and I started off by installing the web-cam in our laptops and once it was functioning we dismantled it and inverted the lens. On placing it onto the photosensitive chip we tried to find the sweet spot where we were able to see the pixels on the screen.

Once we knew that it was working we fixed the lens into place and started examining other things under the microscope.

By this time we were aware that microorganisms are not found everywhere, contrary to what we are taught believe. But we were lucky to find a moving organism in one of our water samples. Later we made a stable structure for our microscope with found materials. We attached an external source of light and made an elevated platform for the slides and an adjustable microscope.
