Today we had an introductory session about what we will be doing for the next four months. We created individual accounts on the EPFL (Ecole Plytechnique Federale de Lausanne) website www.epfl.ch as well as on www.hacketria.org.

We talked about the essence of Biotechnology, and discussed the inter-relation of Science, Art, Design and Technology. We also discussed the cano-relations between science and religion and also, science as a religion. We concluded that Art, Science and Religion are different ways of telling a story/myth.

We also discussed the various steps involved in conducting an experiment. In our next class, we will make our wine while observing the changes at every stage, [[1]] and we will try to conduct the Ganzfeld experiment. [[2]]

I watched a TED talk where Sonaar Luthra spoke about the water canary. [[3]] This was a great eye-opener for me about the dire need for more devices such as the water canary to help detect contaminated water.
