In a 4 day µ-Residency our guests, Ralf Schreiber & derstrudel (Christian Faubel), the Masters of Workshopology, together with dusjagr, are transforming the BioTehna Lab into a space for experimentation on minimal electronics and explore new grounds of combining their experiences with new bioinspired approaches of slimes, bugs, worms, biological oscillators, hydrogels or whatever we can find.

Everybody is welcome to join us in the BioTehna Lab for discussions, sharing of ideas, and explore concepts of SoftBots and Workshopology

OverHeadBots Workshop, Sa 18.5.2013

OverHeadBots - alive and wiggling since 2006

In the Overheadbots workshop you create a tiny solar robot that harvest its energy from the light of an overhead projector. Whenever the robot has collected enough energy it makes a pulsed movement. Through the projection this movement and the robots shadow appear as real-time animated shadow play. The workshop has two parts, first a technical part and second a design part. In the technical part you solder the electronic circuit. In the design part you work on the shape of the robot and the image that is produced through the projection.

Ideal for children of all age 6 – 99 years old

Schedule
Because of the large interest there are two workshops, one in the morning 11-13h and one in the afternoon 14-16h.

SoftBots Workshop, show & tell interdisciplinary hack-session, Mo 20.5.2013, 17h – 20h

Experiments with 'Blow your own Wurst' and other magneto-slimes

Experiments with 'Blow your own Wurst' and other magneto-slimes

During the SoftBots workshop we will experiment with different liquids and gels in combination with small electronic circuits. The basic ingredients will be minimal electronic circuits that produce either small sounds or small pulsed movement. We will experiment how these can be combined with liquids by producing tiny waterproof housings, or expereminet with non conducting liquids. Show & tell interdisciplinary hack-session with an electronic artist Ralf Schneider, a scientist on artificial intelligence and artist Christian Faubel and a DIYbio enthusiast Marc Dusseiller.

    Great!

The hackteria mindset is still with me 🙂 The necessity to experiment and reflect on things in an open and broad way. To not just use brain/body/mindpower like a slave its hands to UTILIZE technology and knowledge… need to think about all the implications of the enormously powerful ressources at hand, in a much broader sense…

Also true for my thing right now: computers as gaming / entertainment technology. On the most part, it’s just a SICK waste of … everything… still pondering on all that, don’t see it anymore.
